Audio Units are plug-ins that can be used to process audio by applications such as Logic Pro, Logic Express, Soundtrack Pro, GarageBand, and others. All Mac computers include a collection of Apple Audio Units, and many other manufacturers distribute plug-ins in Audio Units format.
Software instrument tracks in songs you open immediately after opening GarageBand may play in the wrong key. Real instrument tracks should play as expected.
When you install either Jam Pack 1 or Jam Pack 2 on a new computer with GarageBand '08, some of the instruments may be missing. This may happen if you do not install the optional GarageBand content.
Sometimes the effects in the Track Details area can't be selected, except for Echo and Reverb.
Sometimes, when you export a song or podcast, there may be no file, a very small file, or an empty file when the export completes. With GarageBand 4.1.2, you may see a dialog warning that the export can not be performed.

If you change the tempo of your song, gaps may appear between regions on Real Instrument (RI) tracks that have been split. This may happen if you record an RI track, split it into 2 or more regions, then increase the tempo of the song before playing through the Real Instrument recording. It does not happen if the recording is played through first.
When you assign an organ instrument to a track in an imported MIDI file, the track may no longer making any sound. The track works as expected if other instruments are assigned to it. This issue may occur if the MIDI channel for the track in the imported file is set to channel 4 or higher. The organ instrument in GarageBand responds only on channels 1 through 3. MIDI notes on channel 1 trigger the upper register of the organ, channel 2 - the lower register and channel 3 - the foot pedals.
When you install Apple Loops from GarageBand, Logic Pro/Express, or any Jam Pack, you may notice that your loops don't all reside in the same location. Not only that, loop locations may vary from system to system, depending on what version—or versions—of GarageBand or Logic you've installed.
With GarageBand 4.1.1 you can export your original song, your original audio recordings, or use Apple Loops and iLife jingles to create a custom ringtone for your iPhone. Here's what you need to do it: GarageBand 4.1.1 or later iTunes 7.5 or later iPhone with software version 1.1.2 or later To create a custom ringtone Set up a cycle region that covers the area you wish to use in the GarageBand song. Issue or symptom After restoring your operating system from the DVDs that came with your MacBook (13-inch Late 2007), you may notice that some instruments in the GarageBand Track Info window are grayed out.
