Free alternatives to the Macheist bundle

Filed under: SoftwareMany people love the Macheist bundles because of the software. Others like the price. However, we're betting everyone will like these free alternatives to their latest collection. Here they are, as compiled by Lifehacker:
Awaken is replaced by Aurora 3 and Alarm Clock 2. Wake up for less.
Cha-Ching is replaced by Mint, which lets you manage your assets online for free.
CoverSutra is replaced by DeskTunes, for an enhanced iTunes experience.
iClip is deleted from the clipboard by Jumpcut.
Overflow is replaced by Quicksilver (for those not using Leopard) or, even easier, Leopard's built-in Stacks feature.
Wallet securely stores private information; KeePassX does it for free (and it's open source).
WriteRoom, the distraction-free word processor, is replaced by the web-based DarkCopy
Xslimmer keeps your hard drive as spacious as possible by removing unnecessary code or language files. OnyX doesn't do that exactly, but it will tidy up your OS X installation.
Of course, the price of $49US for the bundle is pretty sweet, however, many people own or don't need several of the included applications.Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments
